Resources Needed for Independence
Supporting adults with autism, intellectual & developmental disabilities, and aging adults through advocacy, education, and independence-focused supports
Our Mission
Resources Needed for Independence (RNI) exists to help individuals and families bridge the gap between support services and real-world independence. We focus on practical, person-centered approaches that honor dignity, autonomy, and safety for adults with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and aging adults navigating complex systems.
WHAT WE DO

Education & Planning
We help families and individuals better understand available supports, future planning considerations, and pathways to greater independence through education, guidance, and community-based learning.

Independence-Focused Supports
RNI promotes models and tools that support independent living while prioritizing safety, structure, and individual needs — without relying on restrictive or intrusive approaches.

Community Partnerships
We collaborate with caregivers, providers, and community organizations to expand access to resources and strengthen independence-focused support networks.
Why Independence Matters
Too often, individuals are forced to choose between safety and independence. We believe independence should be supported — not restricted. By focusing on education, practical supports, and community collaboration, RNI works to create pathways where individuals can live with greater confidence, dignity, and autonomy.
